Biography

Laurene is passionate about data-driven approaches to revolutionize the state of healthcare in Africa. She serves as the ALforHealth sector lead — a network pioneered by the African Leadership Academy connecting key players in African Healthcare, who work together to bring lasting solutions to Africa’s most significant healthcare challenges. Prior to ALA, she co-founded MamaTips, a Kenyan-based maternal healthcare company leveraging data and technology to serve women in marginalized communities. She served as the Operations Lead before eventually transitioning to a position on the board. She later joined Castlight Health to improve access to quality and affordable healthcare across the US. Besides healthcare, her previous experiences have been in management consulting, private equity, and education.
